About me
I am a clinical psychologist by training and a professor of psychology at the University of Ottawa. I completed my doctoral degree in clinical psychology at McGill University and clinical training at the Clark Institute (now Centre for Addictions and Mental Health) in Toronto in 1995, where I was formally trained in both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy, as well as Semi-Structured Clinical Interviewing (SADS, SCID, K-SADS).
I have been in private practice treating individuals across the life span for almost 20 years. While in Nova Scotia, I was a member of the Board of Examiners in Psychology in Nova Scotia, as well as the lead psychologist in the mood disorders program at the IWK Children’s Health Centre, in Halifax, which specialized in treating young people with unipolar and bipolar mood disorders.
I continue to train health and mental health professionals in both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy and currently lead a number of mental health and research projects focused on treatment, mental health and assessment, including mental health in schools. I have conducted hundreds of workshops for students, parents, educators and mental health professionals in Canada and the US.
